Aerial Teen Performance Company
The Aerial Teen Performance Company is lead by fellow aerialist, Olivia Taylor and Bea McGowan, to provide the students who are 13-18 years old with the opportunity to refine their skills and knowledge as performers.
Curriculum in the Aerial Teen Performance Company covers much needed skills such as flexibility training and conditioning, as well as performance skills needed to become a professional Aerialists. The goal for the Aerial Teen Performance Company is to encourage teamwork and a sense of community, as well as prepare the aerialists for what can be expected in the future as a professional aerialists. We will prepare the Aerialists so that at the end of the program they are equipped with all the skills to be hired and perform safely at the highest level. In exploring this goal we hope to provide the team with performance opportunities such as the Northwest Theatre Company, Community Outreach Events, Annual Student Showcase, and their End of Year Production.
Aerial Teen Performance Company is a weekly class that meets Thursday at 4pm-6pm, due to the limited time this is not considered a regular curriculum class. Thursday's times are set aside for team practice and new lessons cannot be expected. Because of this, training outside of Tuesday practices is expected from each team member.
Auditions will be held on December 7th at 12pm during Flyers Debut. The audition needs to be a 2 minute routine created by the Aerialist. This routine should have one Aerial Inversion, one straight arm invert and/or a full split. The Aerialists will also be required to have a 30 second bent arm hang.
Along with aerial skills, the students will also work on deep stretching, acrobatics, and ground dancing fundamentals. The dance team is year round starting January to December. The program will conclude with a full production at the studio for parents and friends in December.
